Get ready for an adventure-filled season of family fun and outdoor events.

Get ready for an adventure-filled season of family fun and outdoor events. South Bend Venues Parks & Arts, HealthWorks! Kids’ Museum, St. Joseph County Parks, Martin’s Super Markets, Mishawaka Parks and the Reducing Obesity Coalition of St. Joseph County have partnered to offer families across Michiana an opportunity to spend time together and participate in fun-filled activities.

Family Passport to Play gives your family the chance every month to enjoy the beauty of our local parks, exercise in an exciting way and learn new things about enhancing your own health and well-being.

Family Passport to Play provides free programming for your family throughout the year, including:

  • Orienteering Fun For All! – St. Patricks County Park
Orienteering is a family-friendly fun navigation challenge that is suitable for all. As well as being educational, it gives children a sense of adventure as they explore the park to find the markers that contain a fun nature riddle.
  • Make a Racquet In The Park! – Leeper Park Tennis Center
Want to learn how to play tennis or pickle ball? No equipment, no worries! We will have racquets, pickle balls, and tennis balls available for you to use. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment. We will also provide snacks and a craft.
  • S’More Fun! – Bendix Woods County Park: Van Paris Shelter
Enjoy this colorful time of the year with a tractor-drawn hayride. A campfire, s’mores and hot cocoa await you after a brisk ride.
  • Snowflake Follies! – O’Brien Park
Say goodbye to the winter blues and join us at the O’Brien Center for some zany, fun activities in the snow. We will be sledding, “painting” snow, building snowmen and playing in the park. If there is now snow, no worries!  We will have fun family activities inside along with a craft, snack, and the opportunity to spin in our orange chairs.
  • Ice Skating! – Merrifield Ice Skating Rink, Mishawaka
Have fun with us while we enjoy the fresh air and the exhilarating feeling of gliding over the ice. A snack will be provided while you warm up.*In the event of limited weather for ice or extreme temperatures, an event will be held at HealthWorks!
  • Maple Madness! – Bendix Woods County Park: Glenn Bauer Shelter
Enjoy an afternoon in the sugar bush. Visit the sugar house to see maple syrup being made (weather permitting), try your hand at tapping a tree and make a maple craft.  Snowshoes will be available to try, snow conditions permitting.
