Byers Softball Complex

The Byers Softball Complex, located on South Bend’s southwest side, has been a cornerstone of the community since its opening in 1997. Known for hosting numerous fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball events—including three visits by the U.S. Women’s Olympic Softball Team and multiple Amateur Softball Association national championships—Byers has earned the prestigious James Farrell Award of Excellence 15 times. The facility features five diamonds, a full concession stand, restrooms, bleachers, and an operations building.

Looking ahead to the summer 2025 season, the City of South Bend and South Bend Venues Parks & Arts are preparing for a major $3 million state-funded renovation of the Byers Softball Complex. To accommodate construction, all spring and summer 2025 games will temporarily be relocated to Boehm Park field, Walker Park field, Potawatomi Park field, and Boland Park field.

The renovation project will bring a number of exciting upgrades to the complex. These include brand-new park entrance signage, a new entry plaza gateway, and significant improvements to the bleachers along with the addition of shade structures for spectator comfort. The concession stand will be fully renovated, and all five infields will undergo complete refurbishment. Additional enhancements include the removal of overgrown outfield shrubbery, the installation of historical signage to honor the complex’s legacy, the addition of two new batting cages, and a brand-new splash pad for families and fans to enjoy.

These improvements are designed to ensure that the Byers Softball Complex continues to serve as a premier destination for softball in the region for years to come.
