Byers Softball Complex – A Premier Softball Destination

Located on South Bend’s southwest side, the Byers Softball Complex has been a community cornerstone since its opening in 1997. Renowned for hosting fast-pitch and slow-pitch events—including three visits from the U.S. Women’s Olympic Softball Team and multiple Amateur Softball Association national championships—Byers has earned the prestigious James Farrell Award of Excellence 15 times. The facility features five diamonds, a full concession stand, restrooms, bleachers, and an operations building.

In 2025, the City of South Bend and South Bend Venues Parks & Arts completed a $3 million state-funded renovation. During construction, spring and summer games were temporarily relocated to Boehm Park, Walker Park, Potawatomi Park, and Boland Park.

The renovation brought several major upgrades:

  • New park entrance signage and entry plaza gateway

  • Refurbished bleachers with shade structures for spectator comfort

  • Fully renovated concession stand

  • Complete refurbishment of all five infields

  • Historical signage honoring the complex’s legacy

  • A new splash pad for families and fans

These improvements ensure the Byers Softball Complex remains a premier regional softball destination.
